The Coconut Grove Grapevine is reporting that Regatta Park is ready to receive bids in the next few weeks for the creation of a new park.

The park will receive 200 donated trees and the city commission has allocated $5 million towards construction costs.

Construction on the 12 acre site is expected to start by the end of the year.

A judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by Steve Kneapler against The Grove Bay Investment Group the claiming the city did not have enough votes to pass a referendum allowing the waterfront project to be built. 

Voters approved an $18 million two story waterfront restaurant to replace Scotty's Landing and The Chart House, which is next to Miami City Hall. Scotty's Landing restaurant has been there for 35 years and is a local favorite. Part of the approval process is the restoring of two old Pan-Am hangars, which was formally used to store airplanes. Coconut Grove architect firm Arquitectonica is designing the project. More renderings of the waterfront design can be seen here.

Construction On Grove at Grand Bay In Coconut Grove

Grove at Grand Bay spiraling towers are becoming more pronounced as construction continues on the site. 

In our construction photos two months ago, the towers were at a height of four floors. Now, they are almost eight floors up. 

The columns are more apparent as they line around the towers and begin to twist as they rise up.

Grove at Grand Bay will offer spectacular views of Biscayne Bay, Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne.

Plan Proposed To Add Theater To Coconut Grove Playhouse

According to the Miami Herald, a plan is being proposed by attorney Lewis "Mike" Eidson to add a second theater with 750 seats to the existing Playhouse that has 300 seats. 

The goal would be to have the theater run by the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. The addition, with parking and offices would cost around $45 million.

In January, the state transferred the site to Miami-Dade County and Florida International University, which will lease the site for 50 years. 

The Playhouse closed in April 2006 when under $4 million in debt and has been abandoned ever since.

Coconut Grove Bank Will Be Demolished For Park Grove

Slow to the residential boom of Miami is Coconut Grove, but that is all changing with the addition of Park Grove. 

Developers Terra Group and Related Group are joining together to create three towers that will consist of 300 units. The towers were designed by architect Rem Koolhaas.

Currently in it's place is the Coconut Grove Bank, which has been there for many years. The bank will have a smaller space in one of the towers, but will stay in where it is until the first phase of the project is completed. 

The site is located near Grove at Grand Bay, which was once the site of the iconic Grand Bay Hotel. Across from Park Grove will be the new Regatta Park, which will give residents views of Biscayne Bay. 

Groundbreaking is expected early 2015.

Designed by Bjarke Ingels and developed by the Terra Group, the Grove at Grand Bay is a one of a kind building in Miami that was once the site of the iconic Grand Bay Hotel Coconut Grove.

The Grove at Grand Bay will have two twisting towers that will both rise 20 stories and have 12 foot high ceilings. The two towers will have incredible views of Biscayne Bay, Key Biscayne and Downtown Miami.

Each tower will have many twisting columns that will give the building its unique look.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2015.

After making an apparent deal to save the Coconut Grove Playhouse from creditors, it has been revealed that Strategic Properties Group has a levy against the property. 

Henry Pino of Strategic Properties Group is claiming to be owed $549,000. According to the Real Deal, If he is not paid in four weeks then he can take the property or put it up for sale.
