The Boulevard Shops at 1401 Biscayne Boulevard is about the begin a renovation, according to The Next Miami. 

The 20,000 square foot building is owned by Genting and is part of Resorts World Miami. The renovation will cost $2.5 million and BDI Construction is the contractor. 

Genting recently completed the demolition of The Miami Herald building just East of the building.

After starting demolition almost a year ago, The Miami Herald Building has been completely torn down now. A few months ago, all that was left was the Northern portion of the building that still had the Miami Herald sign on the East side. 

In 1963 the iconic building was completed and it finally reached its last legs in 2015.

After months of slowly dismantling the Miami Herald building and beginning the official demolition in April 2014, the building is almost completely torn down.

The Northern piece of the building is all that remains and should be fully down by the end of January.

So far, there are no plans for construction in the foreseeable future. Getting has been quiet on the since gambling failed to become legalized. The Miami Herald reports that Miami Tomás Regaledo has not heard from Genting in months and they have not submitted any plans.

Since buying the 14 acre site for $236 million there have been speculation that Genting plans to sell the site, especially for the demand of land on the waterfront

After starting demolition on the Miami Herald building in late April 2014, Genting has been slow to demolish the building. 

Genting had plans to build a mega resort on the site, with casinos, hotels, condo and retail, but have not been able to get state approval for a casino.

Genting and Related Group Discuss Partnership On Resorts World Miami Site

The Miami Herald reports that Genting Resort World Miami and the Related Group's Jorge Perez have been in preliminary discussions about partnering on the undeveloped waterfront former Miami Herald site.

Genting has been unable to receive Florida legislative approval for a casino on the site, which would have also included condos, hotel and retail.

Genting has been slow to demolish the rest of the Miami Herald Building since the first explosion almost two months ago.

Demolition started on the old Miami Herald Building this morning after months of slowly dismantling the building. 

The Miami Herald moved out of the building in May 2013 after being there since the building inception in 1963. 

Located at One Herald Plaza along Biscayne Bay, the building and land was bought by the Genting Group in 2011 for $236 million. They have plans on building Resorts World Miami, which will have condos, hotels and possibly a casino, but there has been some hurdles from the State against bringing gambling to the area.
