Swire Properties

Progression Of Brickell City Centre From South Miami Ave.

Swire Properties' Brickell City Centre is a massive construction project in the heart of Brickell. It's hard to get a sense of how big the project is until you stand on South Miami Ave. and see the construction on three full city blocks.

On what was once empty lots, are now large skyscrapers changing the Miami skyline.

Below are photos of Brickell City Centre facing East on South Miami Ave where construction on Hotel East, Reach Brickell City Centre, North Squared Condo, offices, wellness center and retail are being built. In the other direction facing West (not in the photos) is construction on Rise Brickell City Centre, offices and retail.

Brickell City Centre's growth can also be seen from the 8th St. Metromover Station before its closing.

Workers are now in the process of installing the Climate Ribbon over the Skywalk on SW 7th St

The Climate Ribbon collects up to 5 million gallons of rain water annually. It will prevent the use of an air conditioner in public spaces, but provide shelter from the heat and rain.

More information can be seen at the Brickell City Centre website here.

Swire will close SE 6th St. between South Miami Ave. and SE 1st Ave until April 15 to tunnel beneath the street according to Miami Today.

The tunnel will connect Brickell City Centre North Squared Condo with the underground parking of the rest of City Centre. The underground parking has two levels for 1,934 spaces.

Foundation work is being done on the bottom retail portion of North Squared Condo. This site used to be the parking lot for the Brickell Tennis Club.

Previously, we showed what the Brickell Tennis Club looked like under demolition during the day. Now, here are photos of what  it looked like at night.

The Tennis Club was surrounded by the condos of Brickell and had an incredible view of the Miami Tower and Brickell World Plaza lit up at night.

The Tennis Club was torn down to make way for Swire Properties' Brickell City Centre, which is currently under construction.

Brickell City Centre Construction Photos - Day & Night

Construction is rising fast at Brickell City Centre since our last update. Swire has closed the 8th St. metromover station until Summer of 2015, they have started construction on the retail portion below North Squared Condo and they have added the skywalk above 7th St connecting the towers.

Rise Brickell City Center has since risen to 17 floors and Reach Brickell City Centre has risen to 13 floors.

Hotel East is the tower that has been built the quickest with many of the windows being installed and a few of the glass balconies being added on.

The retail portion of Brickell City Centre is taking shape with most of the steel frames going up and concrete being poured to create the floors.

Below are current photos of the project.

ExMiami is reporting that the FAA is requiring Swire to reduce the height of One Brickell City Centre from 1,040 feet.  A study done by the FAA states that the building will be within flight paths of Miami Airport. Swire has 60 days to respond to the FAA.

One Brickell City Centre is expected to part of the third phase of construction of Brickell City Centre.

At 1,040 feet One Brickell City Centre would be the tallest building South of New York City.
