In 1930, the Surf Club was built in the Surfside neighborhood of Miami Beach and was frequented by many celebrities of the day. In 2012, the property was purchased by Fort Capital with plans to incorporate the property into a Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences.
Designed by architects Richard Meier and Kobi Karp on 9 acres of beachfront property, the Four Seasons will have 80 hotel rooms with 150 residences and 9 rooftop penthouses. The North Tower will be all residences and the South Tower will be residential and hotel. The historic ballroom is being preserved and will be used as a lobby/reception area.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2016.
