Aerial Over The Abandoned Miami Marine Stadium

Earlier this year the City of Miami agreed to pay $16 million to improve the grounds outside the Miami Marine Stadium, which will include an event space and park. These improvements will allow the Miami International Boat Show to host their event on the stadium grounds starting in 2016.

Despite renovations to the grounds of the Stadium, nothing is happening with the actual Miami Marine Stadium itself. It still remains covered in graffiti and patrolled by a guard 24/7 to prevent people from trespassing. Millions of funding is still needed to renovate the stadium.

Below is a video of the Miami Marine Stadium.

Inside The Abandoned Apartments At The Broadstone Brickell Site

Abandoned Apartment in West Brickell

Before construction began at the Broadstone Brickell site, an apartment complex sat abandoned for almost a year before they were torn down recently.

When the residents vacated, they left behind many belongings, including couches, T.V.'s and clothing.

Eventually the whole complex was boarded up before the apartments could be vandalized.

Inside The Abandoned House At 622 South Miami Avenue

622 South Miami Avenue House

Located at 622 South Miami Avenue, this house was built in 1920 next to Tobacco Road, when the bar was only eight years old. The house is 1,389 square feet and was built 10 years after the original building it's associated with, which is currently used as a frame store.

The building and land was purchased in March 2014 by Columbian developer Carlos Mattos who also purchased Tobacco Road.

The house was used as rental units until it was cleared out last October and finally was torn down at the beginning of 2015.

The surrounding buildings including River Oyster Bar and Restaurant are expected to be demolished later this year.

Previously, we showed what the Brickell Tennis Club looked like under demolition during the day. Now, here are photos of what  it looked like at night.

The Tennis Club was surrounded by the condos of Brickell and had an incredible view of the Miami Tower and Brickell World Plaza lit up at night.

The Tennis Club was torn down to make way for Swire Properties' Brickell City Centre, which is currently under construction.

An Aerial Tour Of The Abandoned Miami Marine Stadium

The Miami Marine Stadium has been abandoned since 1992 after Hurricane Andrew. City officials deemed the building to be structurally unsafe and ordered it closed. The stadium was used for boat races and concerts such as Gloria Estefan and Jimmy Buffett.

While the stadium has sat abandoned for twenty two years, it has become a haven for graffiti artists who have used the stadium walls as a canvas to display their work.

Friends of Miami Marine Stadium are working towards raising money and restoring the stadium for future use. They can be contacted at their website.
