Miami Beach Design Board Approves 1212 Lincoln Road

The Miami Beach Design Board approved the 5 story Crescent Heights at Lincoln Road and Alton Road. As part of the approval, five buildings will be demolished including the Wells Fargo building. 

The project will be designed in two phases and will include over 80,000 square feet in commercial space.

The project is being developed by Wells Fargo Bank. The architect is Perkins + Will.

The Fairwind Hotel On South Beach

Constructed in 1936 by famed architect L. Murry Dixon, The Fairwind Hotel (Originally Fairmont Hotel) is undergoing a renovation after being abandoned for awhile. 

The building was purchased in July 2012 for $14.5 million by Chetrit Group, who are also in the middle of developing the massive Miami River project.

The original redesign of the building called for three additional guest rooms in the back along with an outdoor patio and rooftop decks. 

No word on whether they are keeping with these designs or altering them in any way.

Rainbow Colored Signage On Ocean Drive?

The LGBT Committee is pushing for the city to install visible markers on Ocean Drive in support of the LGBT community, according to exMiami.

These markers would include rainbow crosswalks, intersections or street signage located in the LGBT section of Ocean Drive.

Commissioners have also recently debated to close Ocean Drive to cars and expanding the sidewalks.

Located in the heart of South of Fifth, developer Russell Galbut is building an incredible family residence. 

The 17,000 square foot residence will be above Menin Hospitality's Radio Bar and Red Ginger Restaurant. It will have a rooftop terrace, infinity pool and racquetball court, but the most amazing feature will be the robotic parking garage. 

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

Located at 1400 Collins Ave on what used to be a BP gas station, is a newly opened Walgreens. 

The architecturally stunning Walgreens was designed by Demandt Architecture who also designed the new Walgreens that is coming to Brickell across from Miami Riverwalk. 

The 12,000 square foot building is visually stunning to view and even better at night when all the lights are lit up. 

South Pointe Park Pier Set For Grand Opening Tonight

From 6pm to 8pm Miami Beach will have the grand opening for South Pointe Park Pier. 

The old pier had been closed since 2004 until city officials decided to build a new one to go along with the revised South Pointe Park that opened in 2009. 

The project cost $4.8 million and is a great spot to watch cruise ships come in and out of Port of Miami or to watch the sunrise.

"Welcome to Miami Beach" Sign Getting Refurbished

The iconic "Welcome to Miami Beach" sign is being refurbished according to exMiami. The look, isn't changing, but only slight changes will be made.

Since 1997 the sign has been a popular spot for tourists and residents to take photos. At Christmas, the sign is covered in Christmas decorations for the holiday season.
